The Nodus system was originally developed in the late 1960s by the Tubes Division of the British Steel Corporation and was introduced commercially in 1972.
This joint system was made of several components. The cast steel end connectors were welded to the chord connector and the web member forked connectors in the shop. The node was made of two half-casings (one plain and one with lugs for attachment to the web bracing).
The entire joint was put together by a single high-strength bolt, nut and washers.
